A 35-year-old man, Douglas Nazombe from Misomali Village, Traditional Authority Nkaya in Balaka District, has committed suicide by taking pesticides tablets after being caught having sexual intercourse with another man’s wife in Balaka.
According to Public Relations Officer for Balaka Police Station, Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, January 21st, 2026, at a certain Rest House within Balaka Town.
M’bumpha said Nazombe was caught having sexual intercourse with the woman in a garden on Sunday, January 18th, 2026, and the villagers, including his wife, were alerted.
The husband of the woman involved damaged Nazombe’s bicycle in anger, but Nazombe later apologized for his actions at Balaka Police Station.
However, on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, Nazombe was found dead at the Rest House with a bottle of diluted pesticides tablets beside him.
