ASPIRANT MP EDITH KACHALE BANDA BUILDS HOUSES, BRIDGE, AIDS ZOMBA MALOSA

Aspirant Member of Parliament for Zomba Malosa, Edith Kachale Banda, has constructed three houses for vulnerable individuals in her constituency: an elderly woman, a 16-year-old schoolboy, and a woman whose house collapsed during Cyclone Freddy.

Speaking during the handover ceremonies at Kundache and Kalembo villages in Senior Chief Malemia’s area, Kachale Banda explained that she decided to build the houses after witnessing the harsh living conditions of the recipients.

The aspiring MP, who is standing on the People’s Party ticket, noted that the schoolboy, a student at Mulunguzi Secondary School, had been living in a poor house that could jeopardize his education, while the two women endured difficult living conditions due to inadequate shelter.

Kachale Banda, daughter of former president Joyce Banda, funded the construction of the houses through the Joyce Banda Foundation, spending K10 million on each.

Patuma Rubeni of Kundache Village expressed gratitude for the new house, saying the gesture had solved a significant challenge in her life.

In addition to the houses, Kachale Banda distributed maize to over 300 households affected by hunger due to drought in the area. One recipient, Biyasina Mkwanda, thanked her for the support, noting that most families could not afford a meal.

Kachale Banda also handed over a K2 million bridge she constructed over Tiwi River, which has improved mobility for learners at Domasi Demonstration Primary School, Domasi Secondary School, Domasi Teachers College, and the surrounding community.

Group Village Head Mtogolo commended her for the bridge and her support for vulnerable individuals in the area.

Furthermore, Kachale Banda has been paying school fees for the Mulunguzi Secondary School student to ensure his education continues despite his family’s financial challenges.
