Small-scale business operators have assured President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera of their commitment to working with his administration to support Malawi’s development.
Mzuzu City Vendors Chairman Gerald Maulana made these remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with President Chakwera at Mzuzu State Lodge. He stated that vendors had decided against taking their grievances to the streets since the President had granted them an audience.
“We heard that the President was coming, and when we requested to meet him, he humbly accepted. So why take to the streets when we can present our concerns directly to him?” Maulana said.
He commended the President for his swift response to concerns raised by Kaunjika vendors, calling it proof that Chakwera values the welfare of small-scale business operators.
Mzuzu Main Market Vendors Chairman Sikwese echoed similar sentiments but urged the President to remove ineffective officials from government, stating that their failures often push vendors to protest.
