Around 500 women from 20 parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Zomba gathered at Michiru Shrine in Chilomoni, Blantyre Archdiocese, for the Way of the Cross, aiming to deepen their Christian faith.
CWA Chairperson for Zomba Diocese, Christina Lakiyoni, highlighted that 2025 is the Catholic Church’s Year of Pilgrimage of Hope, making the event a significant spiritual journey for the women. She urged them to continue praying and participating in retreats to strengthen their faith.
Lakiyoni, who also serves as the Catholic Women Association National Chairlady, expressed gratitude to all participants despite economic hardships.
“Catholic Women Association looks upon Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, and we deepen our faith so that we should not depart from Mary’s faith,” she said.
Sister Abigail Kapeni of the Daughters of Wisdom from St. Mary’s Convent, Zomba, added that the pilgrimage was a moment of reflection on God’s grace.
