Minister of Mining Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has expressed optimism about the future of Malawi’s mining sector following the close of a three-day Mining Insights Sharing Meeting held at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The event, hosted under the Mining Delivery Lab from May 6 to 8, 2025, brought together government officials and stakeholders for constructive discussions aimed at addressing key challenges in the sector.
In his closing remarks, Ng’oma thanked participants for their active engagement and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the mining industry. He highlighted the need for strategic decisions and policy reforms to address regulatory, infrastructure, and logistics bottlenecks.
“We need to attract investments, ensure equitable benefit-sharing, and safeguard our natural resources. Achieving this demands persistence, vision, and unity,” said Ng’oma. He also commended the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) for prioritizing the Ministry of Mining under the Presidential Delivery Initiatives (PDI), and extended appreciation to development partner Adam Smith International, supported by the British government
