President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has departed for the Federal Republic of Nigeria to lead Malawi’s delegation to the 32nd Annual Meetings of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), taking place in Abuja from 25th to 27th June.
Speaking prior to departure at Kamuzu Palace, President Chakwera described Afreximbank as a key partner in driving intra-African trade and economic transformation.
“For Malawi, Afreximbank plays a critical role in facilitating industrialisation and economic progress—both of which are central to achieving our Malawi 2063 aspirations,” he said.
The high-level forum, held under the theme “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience,” will bring together Heads of State and Government from Africa and the Caribbean, Ministers, Central Bank Governors, private sector leaders, scholars, and other key stakeholders.
While in Abuja, President Chakwera is expected to participate in a Presidential Plenary Session where he will engage with fellow African and Caribbean leaders on shaping a resilient and integrated economic future for the continent.
