President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to uphold peace and respect throughout the campaign period ahead of the 2025 general elections.
In a national address, Chakwera emphasized the need to adhere to the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens. He pledged zero tolerance for violence and misconduct, urging political players to promote human rights and democratic values.
The President appealed to citizens to respect one another’s rights including the right to vote, campaign freely, and express opinions without fear.
He condemned acts of intimidation, hate speech, and political violence, stressing the importance of fostering an inclusive and peaceful environment.
Chakwera also called for national unity and encouraged the public to report any electoral malpractices during the campaign period.
