The Machinga District Police, led by Officer-in-Charge Deputy Commissioner of Police Jane Mandala, in collaboration with the Community Policing Committee, have intensified security efforts during this election period by patrolling all areas of the district both day and night.
Machinga Police Station Community Policing Coordinator, Sub Inspector Masautso Katemera, stated that they are conducting patrols throughout the district, including trading centers, to enhance security as people prepare to cast their votes on September 16.
Sub Inspector Katemera explained that during this time, some individuals take advantage of the situation to steal from others and commit crimes against innocent people.
He assured the residents of Machinga District that they need not be afraid, as the police, together with the Community Policing Committees, will be patrolling continuously to ensure safety.

“We, the police, are collaborating with various Community Policing Committees across all Traditional Authority (T/A) areas to provide security,” he said.
Commenting on the initiative, the chairperson of the Community Policing Committee in T/A Nkula, Gerald Samuel, praised the Machinga Police for organizing patrols throughout the day and night.
He expressed that together with his committee, they are committed to supporting the police in maintaining security during this election period.
