Leader of United Transformation Movement (UTM) in Parliament Dr. Patricia Kaliyati on Wednesday saluted president Peter Mutharika for his good choice and appointment of cabinet members from all regions.
Kaliyati said Mutharika did not appoint cabinet ministers from his home district only but made sure that all regions and districts are represented in the cabinet.During Malawi Congress Party regime, most of cabinet ministers were from Lilongwe, the home district of the former president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
Kaliyati who is member of Parliament for Mulanje West described state opening address by president Mutharika as very unique, sound and visionary.”Just by fulfilling the removal of school fees promise in primary and secondary schools, Kaliyati believes that this is the step ahead in promoting women in the country who suffer a lot.”You can talk about employment and povert alliviation without necessarily talk about what are you doing to promote women in the country “, she added.
However, the lawmaker urged to make sure that resources are made available so that students receive quality education.She also advised ministry of agriculture to make sure that FISP is closely monitored to close all loopholes of corruption during the implementation.
