Police in Lilongwe have confirmed the arrest of four individuals for allegedly vandalising property belonging to Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL), including communication cables.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu said the suspects were apprehended on Sunday in Area 4, in presence of Deputy Minister of Homeland Security, Norman Chisale, who had reportedly been receiving multiple tips about vandalism at the site.
He added that police will disclose the identities of the four once ongoing processes are completed.
Chigalu, indicated that the suspects took advantage of the weekend to vandalise the equipment.
He further said they will appear in court soon to answer charges of vandalism.
