Malawi Electricity Supply Corporation (ESCOM) has donated 5,000 tree seedilings to Lilongwe district council as one way of giving back to community and ensure that they promote environmental conservation.
Maggie Kawalewale Lilongwe district forestry officer, highlighted the impotance of keeping the district green during the handover ceremony held in Lilongwe.
Kawalewale said the donation will help conserve the environment within the district.
” This is good for entire Lilongwe city, and we welcome what Escom has done to remember replacing trees that were destroyed through charcoal burning” said Kawalewale.
Escom is distributing seedlings to all district across the Malawi following the Malawi Electricity Access Project( MEAP) which was phased out last year
