Member of Parliament for Machinga Likwenu, Tulinje Muluzi, has called on people in the eastern part of Zomba City, particularly in the Chirunga area, to rally behind UDF councillor candidate Faridah Karah in the upcoming by-election scheduled for March 17, 2026.
Muluzi made the remarks when he attended a political rally held at Chief Sogoja’s ground in the area, where he was the guest of honour during a campaign meeting aimed at attracting voters.
During his speech, Muluzi encouraged residents to vote for Karah, describing her as a dedicated and visionary leader who is committed to promoting development within the community.
He emphasized that Karah has demonstrated a strong passion for improving people’s lives and has clear plans to uplift the area through practical development initiatives.
Muluzi further pledged his personal support toward several development efforts should Karah win the seat, stating that he would help construct two nursery schools in the area to improve early childhood education.
He also promised to assist with paying monthly allowances for teachers at the proposed nursery schools to ensure that children receive quality education and that learning standards improve.
Speaking during the rally, Karah said she is ready to serve the people of Chirunga and work tirelessly to bring meaningful development to the community.
She highlighted several priorities including the provision of safe water through boreholes and piped systems, construction of nursery schools, and creating business opportunities for youth and women to strengthen local economic growth.
