Mangochi, Malawi — Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah has emphasized the need for greater transparency and accountability in the administration of industrial incentives, stating that clear and consistent frameworks are essential for building confidence among both public and private sector players.
Speaking on Thursday during the official opening of the 2026 Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) Lakeshore Business Leaders’ Summit in Mangochi, Dr. Ansah underscored the importance of structured and sustainable collaboration between government and the private sector.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment that supports inclusive growth, sustainable progress, and national transformation.
According to the Vice President, strengthening public-private partnerships remains key to unlocking Malawi’s economic potential.
Dr. Ansah noted that well-defined policies and transparent processes in granting industrial incentives would not only attract investment but also ensure fairness and efficiency in the business environment.
In his remarks, MCCCI President Wisely Phiri welcomed the Vice President’s sentiments, highlighting long-standing concerns within the business community.
He pointed out that fragmented regulations and inconsistent approval processes for incentives have historically increased the cost of doing business in Malawi.
Phiri expressed optimism that renewed focus on policy clarity and coordination would ease operational challenges for businesses and promote a more competitive economic landscape.
The Lakeshore Business Leaders’ Summit has brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and the private sector to discuss strategies for strengthening Malawi’s economic resilience and growth.
