FORMER UDF GOVERNOR FOR EASTERN REGION ALHAJ NKATA JOINS DPP

Alhaj Nkata, the former United Democratic Front (UDF) governor for the Eastern region, has officially joined the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Nkata resigned from both his position and the UDF last month.

Bright Msaka, DPP Vice President for the Eastern region, expressed the party’s enthusiasm about Nkata’s arrival. “We are very encouraged by his decision to join us,” Msaka stated.

During a welcome speech, Nkata expressed his commitment to supporting the DPP’s campaign efforts for the 2025 elections. He emphasized that his resignation from the UDF was a personal choice and not a reflection of any animosity toward his former party or its members.

“I have received offers from other political parties, but I chose to join the DPP. My departure from the UDF was a matter of exercising my freedom of association, and I hold no grudges against anyone from my previous party,” Nkata explained.

Nkata’s move to the DPP follows a recent postponement of UDF’s elective conference.
