Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Publicity Secretary for the Central region, Kelvin Bernard Mdoka, has resigned from his position and the party.
In a letter addressed to the Party Vice President for the Centre, Alfred Gangata, Mdoka stated that his decision was driven by a desire to pursue new opportunities and challenges that better align with his personal and professional aspirations.
“I write to inform you of my decision to resign from my position as the Central Region Publicity Secretary and as a member of the Democratic Progressive Party, effective from Tuesday, 23rd July, 2024,” reads part of the letter.
Mdoka expressed gratitude for the support he received from the party president, Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, the entire leadership, and supporters during his tenure.
His resignation follows that of Dalitso Kabambe, who recently resigned from the DPP to join UTM after expressing intentions to compete for the party presidency at the DPP convention. Kabambe hinted that more resignations from the DPP should be expected.
Prior to Kabambe’s departure, Prophet David Mbewe also resigned from the DPP and formed his own political party.
Mdoka’s future political plans remain unknown.
