VITUMBIKO FARM DONATES FERTILIZER TO BOOST ZOMBA FARMERS

Vitumbiko Farm, manufacturers of Mbeya fertilizers, has donated two bags of fertilizer each to 36 small-scale farmers in Chingale, Zomba.

During the handover ceremony at Nkupu Village in Sub-Traditional Authority Nkapita, the company’s chairperson, Vitumbiko Ngwira, emphasized the importance of using the fertilizers effectively to improve household food security.

“We want to see farmers achieve good harvests and secure food for their families. It is unfortunate that some sell fertilizers they receive on loan. I urge you not to do so and to use them as intended,” Ngwira said.

Village Head Nkupu expressed gratitude for the support, pledging to encourage farmers in his area to apply the fertilizers properly and adopt good farming practices. “This will ensure better harvests and food security in our community,” he added.

Elias Masamba Chikwatu, who facilitated the fertilizer loans, called on farmers to use the fertilizers wisely and repay their loans. He assured others that they would have opportunities to benefit in the next farming season.

Vitumbiko Farm produces Mbeya fertilizers using organic materials such as maize husks and urine. These are sold at affordable prices, with some distributed on loan to farmer groups to enhance agricultural productivity.
