Former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) legend Robert Kalindiza has won the primary elections for the Dedza-Golomoti Constituency in a poll held on Tuesday.
Kalindiza secured 941 votes, defeating four other contenders. Madalitso Veronica Nyoni came second with 653 votes, followed by Mwazani William Banda with 166 votes, Madalitso Lazaro with 20, and Aaron Pangani Zamajaya with 17.
The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is scheduled to hold another round of primary elections in April after the parliamentary sitting.
Kalindiza previously worked at MBC before serving as spokesperson in the Office of the Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC).
