The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust has called on stakeholders to intensify sensitization efforts to ensure peaceful elections in Malawi.
NICE Trust Programs Officer for Blantyre, Glory Maulidi, made the appeal during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with various stakeholders to enhance information sharing during the campaign period.
Maulidi stated that the collaboration aims to spread messages on peaceful elections, condemn political violence, and educate the public. Key partners include the University of Malawi (Unima), which will facilitate outreach activities for students.
“These stakeholders will help NICE promote democracy, good governance, and youth participation in politics,” Maulidi emphasized.
Other partners involved in the initiative include Youth Action for Development (YAD), Eagle FM, and Mibawa TV, which are expected to support these efforts.
Election stakeholders are currently implementing various activities to ensure that Malawi holds peaceful and credible elections in September this year.
