CHAKWERA LAUNCHES NEW COCA-COLA PET MACHINE IN LILONGWE

His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, has officially launched a state-of-the-art Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) production machine at the Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi Limited (CCBML) Head Office in Kanengo, Lilongwe.

The new PET line represents a significant investment by CCBML, aimed at enhancing the company’s plastic waste collection and recycling capabilities. The use of clear PET plastic bottles, which are easier and more valuable to recycle, underscores the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and circular economy principles.

In addition to environmental benefits, the machine is expected to boost operational efficiency and productivity within the facility, solidifying CCBML’s role in driving industrial growth in Malawi.

CCBML is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), the continent’s largest Coca-Cola bottler, operating in 15 countries including Malawi, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Mozambique. CCBA continues to expand its footprint with innovations that align with both business growth and sustainable development goals.

President Chakwera’s presence at the event highlights the government’s support for private sector investments that promote economic development and environmental stewardship.
