MALAWI BACKS AU VISION AT WATER SECURITY CONFERENCE

Malawi’s Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, says the country is committed to achieving the African Union’s vision of an integrated and prosperous Africa through improved water and sanitation services.

Mia made the remarks while representing Malawi at the 3rd African Implementation and Partnership Conference (PANAFCON) held in Zambia.

She commended the conference as a valuable platform to showcase the efforts of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in ensuring access to clean and safe water for all Malawians.

“My ministry is undertaking serious initiatives by investing and developing policies to ensure that water and sanitation services are accessible and sustainable,” Mia explained.

She further highlighted that Malawi is focusing on inclusive approaches and climate adaptation strategies to strengthen water security across the continent.

The conference is being held under the theme: “Assuring Inclusive and Climate-Resilient Water Security and Sanitation for the Africa We Want.”
