CHITHYOLA DONATES MK5 MILLION, MAIZE TO SANTHE MASJID FOR EID

As part of the Eid al-Adha celebrations, Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda donated MK5 million and 20 bags of maize to Santhe Masjid in Kasungu to support the local Muslim community.

Although the minister was unable to attend the event in person, the donation was officially handed over by Lackson Mbang’ombe, who represented him at the ceremony.

Mbang’ombe emphasized that Chithyola was honoring a pledge he had made earlier to support Muslims during this important religious occasion.

“The Minister has worked with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, which has shaped his appreciation for unity and coexistence. This donation reflects the spirit of Allah, who always provides for His people,” Mbang’ombe said.

Santhe Masjid’s Sheikh, Muhammad Halid, expressed gratitude and praised Chithyola for his inclusive leadership.

“This gesture shows that the Minister values all Malawians, regardless of tribe or religion. His leadership continues to uplift and unite communities,” added Milwad Kamanga, Chairperson of Santhe Masjid.

Sheikh Halid also commended the government for its progressive stance on religious freedom, particularly its support for Muslim girls wearing hijabs in schools.

“We thank the government for promoting religious inclusion and respect. As Muslims, we stand behind the current administration and the leadership of the Finance Minister,” said Sheikh Halid.

The donation was warmly received by the Santhe Muslim community, who described it as timely and impactful ahead of the Eid celebrations.
