A faith based organization Passion Center for the Children has donated 100 desks worth 22 million kwacha to Mulunguzi Primary School in Zomba district to promote education.

Speaking atthe donation ceremony, Executive Director of Passion Center for the Children, Pastor Saul Mateyu, said they decided to donate the desks as one way to improve education of some of the vulnerable children they support and also because of good relationship with the school.

Pastor Mateyu said in July this year, they also donated 50 desks, noting that at the time, the school had only 8 desks.

He said the desks will provide a conducive learning environment especially for girls who often sit on the floor and struggle to stand up to answer questions.

Mateyu added that the school currently lacks an examination centre due to insufficient desks, so the donation will prompt education officials to consider establishing one there.

He promised continued support to Mulunguzi Primary School to help students excel in their studies.”We know this school faces many challenges, including shortage of desks and classrooms, so we’ll continue to assess how best to support them.” He said.

The head teacher of Mulunguzi Primary School, Givemore Chipanga, thanked Passion Center for the donation, noting that the school has 1,560 students and is confident the desks will improve academic performance.Speaking on behalf of fellow students, Pemphero Misomali thanked Passion Center for the donation and urged peers to take care of the desks for future students to benefit.
