Democratic Progressive Party member of parliament for Neno North Thoko Tembo has been elected as new Chairperson for Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture.
During election on Thursday, Tembo took over the position which was previously held by fellow DPP member Sameer Suleman who is now Speaker of National Assembly.
Suleman played a crucial role by among other things exposing irregularities on procurement of Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) under the leadership of former president Dr Lazarus Chakwera.
Thoko Tembo will be deputized by MCP Member of Parliament Kasungu central Chikondi Kampachike Chisale.
Gilbert Khonyongwa of the DPP from Mulanje North constituency was elected as the chairperson of the Legal Affairs.
In Legal Affair Committee of Parliament, MCP Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City Centre, Gift Nankhuni was elected as vice Chairperson.
Meanwhile, all other parliamentary committees have new leadership following Thursday elections.
