Dowa Centre East legislator Mike Chipala has called on the Dowa Agriculture Office to prioritise delivering Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP) materials to hard-to-reach areas before heavy rains make the roads inaccessible.
Chipala made the appeal during a familiarisation visit to the District Agriculture Office, where he met officials to discuss key challenges affecting agricultural operations in the district.
He urged authorities to begin distribution in areas with difficult terrain, warning that delays could disrupt timely planting and fertiliser application for farmers who depend on the programme.
Dowa District Agribusiness Officer, Happy Nyirenda, welcomed the engagement, saying the interaction with the MP will help strengthen coordination among stakeholders working across the district’s agricultural sector.
According to district officials, 48,987 households are expected to benefit from this year’s FISP allocation in Dowa.
