Government has allocated K196 billion to clear outstanding pension payments for People who have not yet received their dues from 2023.
Finance Minister Josephy Mwanamvekha made the remarks in Parliament in response to a question from lawmaker for Mulanje West Patricia Kaliati, who expressed concern that since 2023, many pensioners have not yet received their entitlements.
Kaliati urged Government to urgently address the matter, saying that most of the affected pensioners are suffering and unable to support their families.
Speaking to the media in Parliament Mwanamvekha assured the House that the Government will begin processing the pension payments as soon as possible because the money is there already but will pay in phases for first comer first serve.
