The Malawi Police Service (MPS) says it is investigating reports of suspected property looting at Kamuzu Palace.
In a statement issued today, the service dismissed circulating claims that former President Lazarus Chakwera has been arrested, clarifying that no such action has been taken.
Deputy National Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Chimthere, confirmed that police are actively pursuing leads related to the alleged theft of police dogs from the Palace.
Chimthere explained that officers have obtained a search warrant to investigate claims that the missing dogs may be at Chakwera’s private residence in Lilongwe’s Area 10.
He emphasized that no arrest warrant has been issued in connection with the case.
The police statement stressed that the investigation is ongoing and that all actions are being carried out according to the law.
Chimthere also urged the public to rely on official information channels rather than rumors or social media reports to avoid the spread of misinformation.
Authorities have reassured citizens that the matter is being handled professionally and that any developments will be communicated through formal police statements.
