TITUS LINZIE ELECTED SADC SCIENCE COMMUNICATORS COORDINATOR

The Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Science Communicators Network (SCN) has elected Titus Linzie as the new regional coordinator.

The election took place on the sidelines of the 2025 World Conference of Science Journalists, currently underway in Pretoria, South Africa.

Linzie, who is President of the Association of Environmental Journalists in Malawi, will now oversee science and environment-related programmes across all 16 Sadc member states.

His new role places him at the helm of regional initiatives aimed at strengthening science communication, environmental awareness and knowledge-sharing within the bloc.

He will serve alongside South Africa’s Marcia Moyana, while Zimbabwe’s Eve Ruwoko has been appointed Secretary General of the network.

The Times Group journalist Richard Chirombo has also joined the Sadc-SCN leadership as a committee member.

Their collective mandate will involve coordinating regional projects, enhancing collaboration among member countries and promoting accurate and impactful science reporting.

The 2025 World Conference of Science Journalists has drawn scientists, researchers and science journalists from 74 countries, providing a strategic platform for strengthening global science communication networks.
