ACB URGES YOUTHS TO REJECT CORRUPTION, EMBRACE INTEGRITY

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has called on young people across the country to reject shortcuts and dishonest practices, urging them instead to uphold justice, integrity and responsibility for the sake of Malawi’s future.

ACB spokesperson Jacqueline Ngongonda said the youth possess diverse skills and hold the potential to become tomorrow’s leaders, making their commitment to ethical conduct crucial.

She explained that the bureau’s appeal comes as Malawi joins the rest of the world in commemorating the International Anti-Corruption Day, a moment dedicated to reflecting on the fight against corruption and promoting accountability.

Ngongonda stressed that the involvement of young people is not only necessary but also strategic, as they are at the forefront of driving social and economic transformation.

Meanwhile, Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE) Executive Director Lucky Mbewe has backed the call, emphasizing that young people should be given space to play a significant role in combating corrupt practices.

Mbewe noted that empowering the youth to participate actively in transparency initiatives strengthens the nation’s collective efforts to eradicate corruption.

He added that with the right support, the youth can become powerful agents of change who challenge unethical systems and promote fairness in all sectors.

This year’s commemoration is being held under the theme: “Partnering with the Youth to Fight Corruption and Build a Just Future,” a message that highlights the importance of collaborative action in safeguarding national integrity.
