TEENAGER COMMITS SUICIDE IN MACHINGA

A 16-year-old girl, Livines Chiyipira has committed suicide at Nselema in Machinga District.

The Public Relations Officer for Machinga Police Station Sergeant Western Kansire has confirmed about the incident.

Kansire told The Truth Malawi that the incident occurred on December 18, 2025, at around 05:00 hours.

He said that Mercy Denja, a mother to the deceased reported to police on December 17, 2025, at around 05:00 hours that, Livines picked up a quarrel with her young sister which ended up into fighting.

The fight was stopped but, Livines now deceased stay angrily without talking to anyone.

At around 11:00 hours, driven by anger, she swallowed unknown tablets and collapsed on spot.

She was immediately taken to Chikweo Health center and died whilst receiving treatment.

Postmortem was conducted by the Medical practitioner from the above Health center which revealed that, death was due to poison she swallowed.

Livines Chiipira hailed from Mvoniha village, Traditional Authority, Ntumbwinda in Machinga.
