President Peter Mutharika has acknowledged that the year 2025 has been marked by serious national challenges, including shortages of food, fuel, foreign exchange, and fertilizer, which have affected the daily lives of many Malawians.
In his Christmas and New Year message to the nation, President Mutharika openly reflected on these difficulties, noting that they have tested the country’s resilience and placed pressure on households and businesses alike.
He explained that since assuming the Presidency in October, his primary focus and energy have been directed toward addressing the deep-rooted and systemic challenges facing the nation’s economy and governance structures.
The President emphasized that his administration remains committed to finding lasting solutions that will stabilize the economy and ensure sustainable development for the benefit of all citizens.
Looking ahead, President Mutharika expressed great optimism for the year 2026, stating that he is determined to restore economic stability and uplift the living standards of everya Malawian.
He further called upon the citizenry to celebrate the festive season responsibly, while also remembering and supporting those within their communities who continue to face hardships.
