The fertilizer manufacturing company currently under construction in Dowa is projected to commence production by April next year, marking a major milestone for the country’s agricultural sector.
The owner of the company, Napoleon Dzombe, said once operational, the factory is expected to significantly boost fertilizer availability on the local market.
Dzombe explained that the plant has the capacity to produce about 40 metric tonnes of fertilizer per hour, a level of output he said is sufficient to meet national demand.
According to him, with this production capacity, the factory will be able to supply enough fertilizer for the entire country within a period of just 150 days.
He further revealed that installation of the fertilizer manufacturing machines has already been completed, indicating steady progress on the project.
Dzombe added that remaining construction works are expected to be finalized by January 2026, paving the way for full-scale operations.
The Mtalimanja Holdings Limited founder and managing director said the decision to establish the fertilizer plant was driven by the need to address persistent shortages of the commodity.
He also noted that local production of fertilizer will help reduce the high costs associated with importing the product, ultimately benefiting farmers and the national economy.
