NBS Bank has commended the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) for the successful administration of the National Division League, saying the competition has recorded positive gains that are vital for the development of football in the country.
Speaking during a press briefing held on Thursday at Chiwembe in Blantyre, NBS Bank Head of Marketing, Frank Magombo, expressed satisfaction with the management of Malawi’s first-ever National Division League.
Magombo noted that the league has provided an important platform for teams to gain competitive experience and adequately prepare for the demands of the top-flight TNM Super League.
“The NBS National Division League has given us confidence that it has the potential to produce quality players who can eventually contribute to the country’s national football team,” said Magombo.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Marketing Manager, Mayamiko Kafwamba, also applauded NBS Bank for sponsoring the National Division League, stating that the future of football looks promising due to such investments.
The National Division League will conclude on Sunday, with newly promoted TNM Super League sides Red Lions and Baka City facing each other at Balaka Stadium.
The champions of the league will pocket K15 million, while the runners-up will receive K10 million.
The third-placed team will go home with K5 million.
Meanwhile, NBS Bank has indicated that it is considering the possibility of increasing the prize money in future seasons.
