MCP 2ND DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS RESIGNS FROM PARTY

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Second Deputy Director of Public Relations Isaac Mwepa has resigned from his position and from the party.

Mwepa confirmed his resignation in a letter dated January 27, 2026, addressed to the MCP Secretary General, in which he cited personal reasons for his decision.

In the letter, Mwepa stated that his resignation was effective immediately, stepping down both as Second Deputy Director of Public Relations and as a member of the MCP.

He explained that the decision was personal and meant to allow him to focus on his business interests and other priorities outside active party politics.

Mwepa further expressed gratitude to the party for the support he received during his time in office and wished the MCP continued success in its future endeavors.

Speaking in an interview, Mwepa dismissed suggestions that his resignation was linked to his loss in the parliamentary race during the September 16, 2025 General Election.

He had contested the Chitipa North Constituency seat on an MCP ticket but failed to secure victory in the polls.

Meanwhile, MCP Deputy Secretary General Gerald Kazembe described Mwepa as a politician of impeccable character, saying the party regrets his decision and that he will be personally missed.
