FCB DONATES K150 MILLION TO SUPPORT REPATRIATION OF MALAWIANS FROM SOUTH AFRICA

First Capital Bank has donated K150 million to the Malawi Government to support the voluntary repatriation of Malawian nationals stranded in South Africa.

Speaking during the symbolic handover ceremony, First Capital Bank representative Twikale Chirwa said the situation facing many Malawians in South Africa remains a cause for concern, prompting the bank to assist in accelerating the repatriation exercise.

โ€œThe situation is worrisome, and as a responsible corporate citizen, we felt compelled to contribute towards efforts aimed at bringing our fellow Malawians back home safely,โ€ said Chirwa.

Commissioner for the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), Wilson Moleni, revealed in Blantyre that the number of Malawians expressing willingness to return home has now risen to 15,000.

Moleni commended First Capital Bank for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that will help government meet the growing demand for repatriation assistance.

The government is currently coordinating efforts to facilitate the safe and voluntary return of Malawians affected by various challenges in South Africa.
