CHIKUMBU COMMENDS GOVERNMENT ON BURSARY PROGRAMME

Senior Chief Chikumbu of Mulanje District has commended the government for introducing bursaries under the reformed Constituency Development Fund (CDF), saying the initiative is giving many students an opportunity to continue their education.

Speaking on the impact of the bursary programme, Senior Chief Chikumbu said many secondary school students who previously struggled to pay school and boarding fees can now remain in school and pursue their studies.

He said the programme is also benefiting students at teacher training colleges, as well as those pursuing health sciences.

Senior Chief Chikumbu thanked the government for introducing the bursary programme through the reformed CDF, saying it has enabled some children who had dropped out of school due to financial difficulties to return to their respective schools.

The traditional leader said the initiative will help ensure that financial challenges do not prevent deserving students from accessing and completing their education.
