MALAWI TO MARK 61ST INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY IN LILONGWE

Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu, has announced that Malawi’s 61st Independence Anniversary celebrations will be held in Lilongwe.

Speaking at a press briefing, Kunkuyu said the commemorations will begin with a National Service of Worship on 5th July at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), where President Lazarus Chakwera will lead the nation in prayer alongside various faith groups.

The main event is set for 6th July at Bingu National Stadium (BNS), where President Chakwera will be joined by Guest of Honour, President Duma Boko of Botswana.

Kunkuyu added that the day will feature a range of activities including a military parade by the Malawi Defence Force, cultural dances, musical performances, football matches, and keynote speeches to celebrate the country’s independence.
