DPP CLARIFIES ON PROCEDURE OF ACCEPTING MEMBERS FROM OTHER PARTIES

The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has clarified that there are outlined procedures that are followed before accepting members from other parties who have expressed interest to join the party.

Speaking in an interview today DPP spokesperson and information minister Shadrick Namalomba says there is a committee that scrutinizes individuals that have shown interest to join and help the party in various capacities.

“Those linked to corruption or stealing public resources or whatsoever are not accepted. Those that, previously talked bad things about our party are not allowed”, said Namalomba.

He added that the party only accepts those deemed good and can contribute to the development of the country and the party.

“The new members are accepted through the regional governors not National Executive Committee (NEC)”, said Namalomba.

Namalomba’s sentiments come as recently the party welcomed new members from United Democratic Front (UDF) and UTM in Mangochi where the party organised a thank you rally after its triumph on September 16 this year.
