PRESIDENT CHAKWERA PRAISES JAPANESE SUPPORT IN ENHANCING MALAWI’S EDUCATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera today expressed profound gratitude to the Japanese Government for its steadfast support in constructing new infrastructure at Domasi and Nalikule College of Education. The official handover ceremony of the newly completed facilities took place at Domasi College of Education in Zomba District, with high-ranking officials and representatives from both Malawi and Japan in attendance.

In his address, President Chakwera highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to developing all regions across Malawi. He underscored the administration’s priority to ensure equitable development, affirming that every Malawian deserves access to advancements.

 “Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of our nation,” he stated. “Every Malawian is entitled to development.”

Chakwera also celebrated Zomba’s historic significance and contributions to the nation, noting its production of a president and its role as a hub for various developments. He described the city as iconic and instrumental in Malawi’s progress.

Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wilima echoed the President’s sentiments, extending her appreciation to the Japanese government for their invaluable support. She emphasized the pivotal role of education in driving Malawi’s prosperity.

“Education is the cornerstone of our nation’s prosperity,” she said. “The new infrastructure at Domasi and Nalikule College of Education marks a significant milestone in our educational aspirations.”

Wilima revealed ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Education to implement similar infrastructure projects in public universities nationwide. She urged beneficiaries to be responsible stewards of the new facilities to ensure their longevity and impact.

Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Youichi Oya, commended the Malawian government and the Ministry of Education for their dedication to these developmental projects. He assured continued support from Japan, aligning with Malawi’s efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and bolster economic development and stability.

“Japan remains committed to supporting Malawi in its education sector to achieve sustainable development and economic stability,” Oya remarked.

The collaboration between Malawi and Japan in enhancing educational infrastructure underscores a shared commitment to fostering development and prosperity. The new facilities at Domasi and Nalikule College of Education represent a significant leap forward in providing quality education and empowering future generations.
