Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Dr. Ben Phiri, has reassured Malawians that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) remains secure.
He emphasised that no politician will have access to the resources designated for community development projects.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on MBC on Sunday, Phiri clarified the legal framework governing the fund.
He explained that according to the Public Finance Management Act, only councils led by District Commissioners (DCs) are authorised to manage the CDF.
The minister noted that DCs also oversee all other finances meant for local council development initiatives.
Phiri reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to proper financial stewardship and adherence to regulations.
“Let me assure Malawians that their funds are safe and my ministry is committed to transparency and accountability in the utilisation of these public resources,” he said.
