LILONGWE, June 20, 2026 — Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Mary Navicha, on Friday held a strategic meeting with the Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and his management team aimed at strengthening collaboration in advancing the Ministry’s social development agenda.
The meeting focused on enhancing the dissemination of public awareness messages on key social issues, including child protection, positive parenting, prevention of gender-based violence, mental health, disability inclusion, community development, and various social protection programmes.
Speaking during the meeting, both institutions emphasized the importance of leveraging public broadcasting to reach communities with information that promotes positive behavioural change and social transformation.
The Ministry and MBC reaffirmed their commitment to working together to amplify critical messages that foster inclusion, protect vulnerable populations, and improve the well-being of Malawians across the country.
Particular attention will be given to programmes targeting women, children, persons with disabilities, older persons, and other vulnerable groups to ensure they have access to information and services that support their development and welfare.
The strengthened partnership underscores the shared commitment of the Ministry of Gender and MBC to ensuring that no one is left behind in Malawi’s development journey.
