Second Vice President Enock Chihana has acknowledged that Kasungu District has remained behind in development for many years, calling for stronger collaboration among political leaders and government institutions to accelerate progress.
Speaking during the funeral ceremony of Zagwazatha Thaulo, father to Chris Thaulo, the Deputy Secretary General for the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) and Deputy High Commissioner to Tanzania, at Mthuluzi Village under Traditional Authority Kapichira in Kasungu District, Chihana said meaningful development can only be achieved through coordinated efforts.
He urged ward councillors, Members of Parliament and the Executive to work together in implementing development projects that address the district’s long-standing challenges.
Chihana also said the administration of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is aware of the difficulties farmers have faced during the current farming season and is committed to addressing the challenges affecting agricultural production.
He said the government is working on measures to remove the bottlenecks experienced by farmers to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen livelihoods.
The remarks were made as mourners gathered to pay their final respects to Zagwazatha Thaulo, whose son, Chris Thaulo, serves as AFORD Deputy Secretary General and Malawi’s Deputy High Commissioner to Tanzania.
