Youth for Development and Productivity (YODEP), through its Chabwino Project, has graduated 39 learners from Tikondane Community-Based Childcare Centre (CBCC) and nine women who completed tailoring training. The ceremony was held at Makumba Primary School Ground in GVH Mindano, Zomba.
Speaking during the event, YODEP Programs Manager Joy Mwandama described Early Childhood Development (ECD) as the foundation for lifelong learning. He urged the government to invest more in caregivers by providing salaries to improve the quality of early childhood education.
Group Village Head Mindano praised the Chabwino Project for improving access to early childhood education and women’s skills development. He also pledged to strengthen the enforcement of local by-laws to encourage greater community support for CBCC services.
The event attracted officials from Zomba District Council, community leaders, caregivers, parents, and other stakeholders. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting quality ECD and women’s empowerment in the area.
