Police in Dowa have recovered a brand new motor vehicle suspected to have been stolen.
Public Relations Officer for Dowa Police Station Sub Inspector Alice Sitima said they received a tip-off from well-wishers who reported that a man in Nyemba Village, Traditional Authority Msakambewa, was keeping a suspicious vehicle at his residence.
Sitima added that acting on the tip-off, CID officers rushed to the scene where they found grey Nissan Navara Double Cab, registration number KD 14 XN GP, parked at the premises.
“Interrogations revealed that the vehicle had been brought in by the custodian’s son, Blessings Mbalangwe, who resides in South Africa”,He explained
Meanwhile the suspect is currently at large.
However,the vehicle has since been impounded and handed over to the Anti-Motor Theft Department for further inquiries, while investigations continue to trace and arrest the suspect.
Dowa Police is therefore urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities to help create a safer district.
