Malosa Secondary School, under the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire, is set to transition from a government-assisted secondary school to a fully private institution effective 14 September 2026.
The development has been announced by the Diocesan Education Secretary, Rev. Fr. Singano Matthews Kachala, who said the transition will not affect students currently enrolled at the school.
According to the notice, all existing students will continue with their studies as usual and will be allowed to complete their secondary education, including their Form 4 examinations, at the school.
As part of the transition, the Diocese has also announced an increase in boarding fees from K460,000 to K600,000 per term, effective 1 September 2026.
The Diocese says the adjustment is in line with Government and Association of Christian Education in Malawi (ACEM) guidelines.
Under the new private-school arrangement, Malosa Secondary School will focus on admitting high-performing students. The school will select students who recently sat for the Church’s Form 1 entrance examinations as part of the first intake under its new status.
The transition marks a significant change in the management and admission arrangements of one of the schools under the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire, with the institution expected to operate fully as a private secondary school from September.
