MSCE EXAMS COMMENCE NATIONWIDE

Thousands of candidates across Malawi today began sitting for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations, marking the final phase of their secondary school education.

The commencement of the MSCE examinations follows the successful completion of the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) and Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations, which were administered in May and June.

The MSCE is Malawi’s national secondary school qualification and is awarded to students who successfully complete Form Four.

The examinations are administered by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB).

For many candidates, the examinations represent a significant academic milestone, as the results determine eligibility for admission into universities, teacher training colleges, technical institutions, and other tertiary education programmes both within Malawi and internationally.

Candidates are sitting for compulsory subjects, including English, Mathematics, and Chichewa, alongside a range of elective subjects in science, humanities, and technical disciplines at examination centres established across the country.

Education authorities have urged candidates to observe examination regulations, remain focused, and refrain from any form of malpractice. MANEB invigilators, supported by security personnel, are monitoring examination centres to ensure the process is conducted fairly and smoothly.

The MSCE examinations are expected to run through June and July, with results traditionally released between August and September.

The outcomes play a key role in determining students’ future academic and career opportunities.

As the examinations get underway, parents, teachers, and communities have expressed their support for the candidates, wishing them success as they undertake one of the most important examinations of their academic journey.
