Zomba Malosa legislator Grace Kwelepeta has assured youths in the constituency that the K50 million allocated for sports under the Reformed Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will be used for its intended purpose.
Kwelepeta has urged young people to come forward and register their sporting talents in various disciplines as preparations for implementing the programme get underway.
The sporting disciplines include football, women’s football, netball, athletics, chess and bawo.
She said the initiative would help identify talented young people and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills and compete at district, regional and national levels.
Kwelepeta was speaking at Domasi College Ground during a friendly match between Grace Kwelepeta Select FC and Blue Eagles FC.
She encouraged youths to take full advantage of the initiative, saying investment in sports could not only nurture talent but also create opportunities for young people to pursue careers in sports and represent their communities and the country in various competitions.
Meanwhile, Blue Eagles FC defeated Grace Kwelepeta Select FC 2-0 in the friendly match.
