Member of Parliament for Zomba Chingale, Dr. William Susuwele Banda, has hailed the government’s K3.6 billion Constituency Development Fund (CDF) investment in roads and a bridge, saying the projects will significantly improve connectivity and development in the area.
Speaking at the launch of the reformed CDF at Chilipa Primary School, Dr. Banda said improved roads would ease access to Blantyre, Zomba City and Liwonde, while helping farmers transport their produce and residents access health services.
The investment includes K1.2 billion for Mlumbe-Nkasala Road, K2.2 billion for Chimbiya-Mpalume-Masaula Road and K200 million for Linthipe Bridge.
Dr. Banda also welcomed government’s plan to make Chingale a stand-alone district, saying this could bring government services and development closer to the people.
The projects, expected to be completed in the 2026/27 financial year, have been welcomed as a major infrastructure boost for Zomba Chingale under the government of Professor Peter Mutharika.
