DOWA POLICE OC ENGAGES CHIEFS UNDER TA MKUKULA

Dowa Police Officer In-Charge, Deputy Commissioner Aubrey John Kawale, on Friday met traditional leaders under Traditional Authority Mkukula as part of his familiarisation tour aimed at strengthening security in the district.

Kawale thanked the chiefs for their continued support to police work and pledged to collaborate with them in promoting safety.

“Security starts with the community, and without chiefs, police work becomes difficult. My office is open, let us work together to make Dowa safer for everyone,” he said.

He cautioned that some leaders have been implicated in fuelling criminal activities, stressing that “no one is above the law” and urging chiefs to follow proper channels when seeking assistance from his office. The OC further encouraged the establishment of vibrant community policing structures to enhance security.

Detective Inspector Dilliams Ndege echoed the OC’s call, urging chiefs to discourage malpractices such as mob justice and suicide, and instead guide their subjects to report grievances through relevant authorities.

Senior Group Village Head Mkukula welcomed the OC, pledging cooperation and expressing confidence that his leadership will help address challenges faced by traditional leaders.

The meeting was also attended by community policing forum members from all villages under TA Mkukula.
