ROYALTY CAMPUS OUTREACH DONATES SOAP TO ZOMBA CENTRAL PRISON

Royalty Campus Outreach, an interreligious organisation at the University of Malawi (UNIMA), has donated soap to inmates at Zomba Central Prison while providing spiritual encouragement aimed at promoting rehabilitation and positive behaviour change.

The outreach also sought to remind inmates that they remain valued members of society and can use their time in prison to reform and become responsible citizens.

Patrick Elias, Vice Chairperson of Royalty Campus Outreach, delivered a sermon encouraging inmates to seek salvation and live righteously despite their circumstances, stressing that true freedom is reflected in godly character.

Zomba Central Prison Public Relations Officer Sergeant Yusuf Ayuba welcomed the initiative, saying many inmates come from distant districts and depend on well-wishers for basic necessities. He also encouraged the organisation to continue with similar visits and consider future educational programmes.

McDonald Kanyerere, Chairperson of the prison’s Religious Council, said the inmates appreciated the visit and support, which made them feel loved and remembered.
