Police have arrested six men for allegedly inciting violence after they pelted stones at police and civilian cars and blocked the Lilongwe-Kasungu M1 road following the fire accident that left a motorcyclist dead and another injured.
Central West Region Police PRO Inspector Foster Benjamin has identified the six individuals as Francis Jezala, 20, Laston Ngolomi, 37, Yohane Satifolo, 33, Austin Akim, 37, Davie Beyard, 37, and Stephano Kapachika, 33.
Benjamin said the suspects, who are held at Kanengo Police Station, have been charged with inciting violence and they will appear in court soon.
He added that Central West Region Police warn people against taking matters into their own hands.
The law enforcers further warn all motorcycle operators and traders against transporting and dealing in petroleum products since it is an offence punishable by law.
